Presentation
Nowadays, as the world is developing into mobile technologies, the computer vision field is increasing its component in the research domain. This is because of the attempt to improve the devices automation in order to facilitate people's daily lifestyle.
The exponential growth of smart phones during the last decade as allowed scientists to developed diverse applications able to improve and outsmart older technologies and increase people's dependency on it. Smart phones are now pieces of equipments accessible to most of the population because of its low cost allowing companies to see mobile applications as a future market and source of income, resulting in a huge market bet in the development of these technologies.
Today, most of the surveillance systems are based on stationary cameras using background removal algorithms not enabling for a specific object to be tracked using a dynamic camera. In order to counteract that aspect, this dissertation has the goal of providing a mobile application able to use a mobile phone camera to track a specific type of object not having the need of using a stationary camera. This technology can allow companies to use mobiles phones as equipment to supervise a certain object in specific tasks without the purchase and use of expensive material as nowadays is offered.
It is expected that the application developed is able to track in real time video stream an object selected a priori through partial and full occlusions, dynamic background and its fast movement.
